April Eight shares with campers how their ideas and imagination can magically transform into a song – one they’ll be singing and sharing with their friends and family all year long! As one camper’s parent says, “I can’t imagine a better week of learning and fun.”
April Eight Songs for Peace camp is a week of brainstorming, singing, playing and creating with music and ideas. We focus on Peace because children inherently know what it is – everything from friendship to environmentalism to being true to yourself. (Kids have lots of idea about Peace!)
We work with conceptualization, context, rhythm, rhyme, metaphor, patterns, dynamics and more. Kids sing, collaborate, lead, follow, share and have a blast. At the end of the week we record our great songs on our “Songs for Peace” CD so everyone can take the fun home with them.
When kids aren’t working on music, we’ll be playing games, making crafts and instruments, hiking in the woods and picnicking on the beautiful Meshewa grounds. On the Friday evening of camp we have a celebration and performance of our special songs for family and friends. It is so great, we can hardly wait for summer!
